Langtang Valley Trek

(Max. 4600 meters)
Grade : Challenging

The Langtang valley is home to Nepal’s red panda, Himalayan tahr, and lovely mixed conifer and rhododendron forests.   Native yak wool dress, ropes, blankets, and locally made cheese are testimony to the yak’s importance among these Tamang and Bhotia herders. The trek follows the rushing Langtang Khola up into a glacially carved valley lined with snowy peaks. From Kyangjin monastery (3750 meters/ 12300 feet), you can explore nearby glaciers and valleys on day hikes.   Those with climbing expertise might attempt Ganja La Chuli (5844 meters/19175 feet).   The 10 days trek returns the same way; the 20 days trek follows the Gosainkund Pilgrimage trek route, described above.   Another option, for those with basic mountaineering skills, is to enter Helamby via Ganja La (5120 meters/ 16800 feet) from the upper Langtang Valley.

Highlights of Trip
Langtang Lirung (7246m), which dominates the upper valley and be astride the Tibetan border. In springtime it is an ideal place to spot birds and flowers of Nepal.
