Chepang Village Trek

The Chitwan Chepang Hill Trail, offers a rare combination of cultural and sightseeing experience. One of the most interesting aspects of the trek is getting a glimpse of the Chepang's and other local communities whose settlement is in the mid hill region of Nepal The Chitwan Chepang Hill Trail begins at Hugdi, between Mugling and Krishna Vhir in Dhading district about 80 km from Kathmandu, and ends in Shaktikhor. If one starting from the Chitwan National Park the trail can also be started from Shaktikhor ending at Hugdi.

OTHER EXPERIENCE
PARAGLIDING:
One of the adventurous sports at this location is paragliding from Siraichuli. Arrangements can be made in Kathmandu or Pokhara through travel and trekking agents.

RAFTING:
Enjoy the Chitwan Chepang Hill trek combining it with 3 to 4-hour rafting down the Trishuli River from Charaundi or Galchhi up to Hugdi from where the trek starts. A gentle 2-3 day scenic raft trip down to Narayanghat, only 8 km from Chitwan, gives a different perspective to the countryside. Trips start at Muglin or further up.

Itineary

OPTION 1 (5 - 6 DAYS)
Day 01    : Kathmandu - Hugdi - Hattibang : Driving from Kathmaqndu - Hugdi, Trekking Hugdi - Hattibang.

Day 02    : Hattibang -Jautesh - Changa - Dinglang - Jyandala : Trekking from Hattibang - Jautesh - Changa - Dinglang - Jyandala. the villages on the way are pure Chepang settlements. Observing Chepang settlements and culture at Jyandala.

Day 03    : Jyandala - Siraichuli - Chisapanitar - Gadi : Trekking from Jyandala - Siraichuli.Viewing mountains, sunrise or sunset at Siraichuli. Trekking from Siraichuli - Chaisapanitar. Trekking from Chisapanitar - Gadi. Observing historical fort at Gadi.

Day 04    : Gadi - Sharktikhor : Trekking down from Gadi - Shaktikhor. Cultural experience at Shaktikhor. Visiting Chepang museum, Multiple Use Visitors' Information Center (MUVIC). Visiting Sinti waterfall and Sinti cave. Village tour and cultural show performed by Chepang and Magar.

Day 05    : Shaktikhor - kathmandu or Sauraha : Driving from Shaktikhor to Sauraha. or Driving from Shaktikhor to Kathmandu.

OPTION 2 (7 - 8 DAYS)

Day 01    : Kathmandu - Hugdi - Hattibang : Driving from Kathmaqndu - Hugdi, Trekking Hugdi - Hattibang.

Day 05     : Shaktikhor - Subtu - Siddi - Majhbang : Trekking from Shaktikhor - Sinti. Visit the Sinti waterfall and caves. Trekking to Siddi Majhbang. Village tour and Chepang cultural experience at Siddhi and Majhbang.

Day 06     : Majhbnag - Chitram - Majhbang / Siddi or Shaktikhor : Trekking t Chitram waterfall and then back to Majhbang or Siddi or Shaktikhor. Experiencing the Chepang culture, birdwatching, fishing, visiting Chepang village.

Day 07     : Majhbang / Siddi - Shaktikhor - Sauraha or Kathmandu : Trekking back to Shaktikhor. Drive to Sauraha. or Drive to Kathmandu.
